The Great People Changing Programmes: The Great Strategic Leader - Registration for Principals

The Great Strategic Leader programme was formally known as The Great People Manager Programme. It was EA’s first provision of leadership development to all senior managers and school leaders and it now forms and important part overall Game Changing People suite of programmes. The aim of this programme is to develop strategic leadership skills to support the delivery of organisational priorities thus creating the best services for our children and young people.

Who should attend?

This programme is aimed particularly at EA senior managers and school principals who wish to benefit from a leadership development opportunity, maximising their skills to build a high performing team through support, development, coaching and building psychological safety at work. The target group is staff at grades from Heads of Service level to Senior Principal Officer level (or equivalent grades) who have line management responsibility for individuals or teams, and school principal.

By the end of programme, participants will:

  • Recognise their authentic strengths to support their role
  • Build skills and confidence to become a more effective manager
  • Understand how to support their team to become a High Performing Team
  • Be able to coach team members for their personal and professional success
  • Be able to manage performance to increase team commitment to excellence
  • Understand the importance of collaborative relationships and cross silo working
  • Have the skills and confidence to create positive culture and challenge behaviours which are not reflective of that culture and values

Important notes for potential applicants 

  • Applicants must receive approval from their line manager prior to applying for the programme.
  • Applicants must have line management responsibility.
  • Attendance at all modules is mandatory, therefore, applicants should ensure they are available to attend all modules prior to applying.
  • Attendance at Masterclasses is highly encouraged but not mandatory.
  • Places on our programmes are in high demand. Should you not be able to secure a place on this occasion your name will be added to a waiting list. The waiting list will be for this specific programme and, should you not secure a place, you will need to submit another application for future dates.
  • The Improvement Project forms an valuable and integral part of The Great Strategic Leader Programme. Participation in the project is mandatory therefore participants should consider this commitment before applying.
  • The Great Strategic Leader programme has been renamed . The former title was “The Great People Manager Programme” but the content of the programme has not cha
  • nged. Therefore, former participants of the Great People Manager Programme should not reapply.
