Target audience: Early Career Teachers working in Special Schools

(ECTs undertaking Induction and Early Professional Development)

About this event

This face-to-face event aims to introduce ECTs to the unique aspects of teaching in special school environments.  Build upon foundational knowledge and skills to support your practice; raise awareness of key legislation; understand importance of relationships and effective professional communications with a range of multidisciplinary teams; explore specialised pedagogical approaches.  Engage with experienced practitioners and participate in interactive sessions. 

Objectives

  • Familiarise yourself with vision and values, the SS estate and ethos of special schools.

  • Raise awareness of relevant legislation and policies. 

  • Explore unique challenges of teaching in a Special School.

  • Develop understanding and importance of relationships, effective communication and partnership working.

  • Learn about specialised teaching approaches.

  • Explore EA support available to ECTs.

9.30 am - 3.30 pm

Venue

EA Antrim Board Centre (Assembly Hall)

Substitute cover will be provided to your school to facilitate your attendance.  Please code to EA-V In-service training (quoting function code 84071) on NISTR.
