Aims:
This Professional Learning & Development Programme aims to provide staff from Specialist Provisions with strategies and resources to support Autistic pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties within the classroom setting.
Structure/Content:
This session has been specifically structured to support the following:
1. To provide an overview of Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
2. To provide strategies and resources to support autistic children with SLD within a specialist setting.
3. To explore the physical needs and sensory processing of autistic children with SLD.
4. To highlight the importance of the Fundamentals of communications for autistic children with SLD.
5. To consider the role of play for the social development of autistic children with SLD.
6. To highlight the importance of healthy emotional wellbeing for autistic children with SLD.
7. To explore ways to use the environment to support autistic children with SLD
